Help Please

A while back I set up a separate blog called SusieLou Designs. This was for my jewellery as I thought it would be easier for it to be separate. BUT....

I rarely post to it as it's time consuming keeping 2 blogs up to date / I sometimes blog jewellery as part of my DT work for Dream Valley / I've now set up a Facebook page called SusieLou Designs and find it easier to keep it updated (and have a few more followers than the blog).

It seems to be easy to delete my SusieLou Designs blog and there would be only 9 followers to "disappoint".

Does anyone know if this deletion would then enable me to change my CraftySusieLou blog name and URL to SusieLou Designs AND be able to keep all my current Crafty SusieLou posts and followers? (It would mean that my Facebook and blogging "brands" would then be the same.

As I'm writing all of this, I'm wondering if maybe it would be easier just to use SusieLou Designs for everything and put a note on THIS blog to advise everyone....would you keep following if I did that?

Distress Inks and One Layer Cards

I'm back, yet again with some more cards! It may appear that I am a) neglecting the housework and/or b) neglecting the children, but I assure you that the amount of crafting I'm doing is ABSOLUTELY necessary to keep at least a slight grasp on my sanity just now!

My wonderful friends Elaine and Fi were kind enough to send me some fabulous card (and some images) for trying my Distress Inks again. THANK YOU both! I am LOVING painting with these inks - I love the softer effect and find the finer detail much easier to colour than with my Promarkers (I'm still to invest in some of the new nibs).

I have 6 colours: Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Worn Lipstick, Brick Red, Weathered Wood and Mustard Seed Yellow and find I can get the majority of the colours I'm looking for by colour mixing, although that's NOT going to stop me "investing" in some more colours, so any suggestions would be greatly received.

My first card is using LOTV's Lazy Afternoon, DEFINITELY one of my favourite stamps. I've used my favourite Basic Grey Marjolaine papers, favourite twine and my favourite (at the moment) circle nesties. The script is some Basic Grey rub-ons that I've had for ages.

I'm afraid I don't know what the papers are called, as my lovely friend, Clare gave them to me last year, but they seemed to suit her.

I'm guessing you may be losing the will to continue reading this long post, but almost done!

I noticed that Crafty Cardmakers are running a One Layer challenge just now, so I decided to have a go. This was my first attempt. I used the Papermania Hampstead stamp and Anniversary sentiments, with a black and turquoise fineline, Stardust Stickles and Silver Stickles. After looking at lots of the entries so far, I have a LONG way to progress but you've got to start somewhere, huh?!

The 2nd attempt is my favourite, but then I love square.

And the third is no longer one layer.....it WAS to start with, but I wasn't happy with it so I butchered it and made it into something I was happier with.

So, now that I've bored you for tonight, I shall let you get on!

A few summery cards

A few summery cards, even although the weather here has been pretty awful the last 2 days! We had an almighty thunderstorm last night that lasted a good few hours and flooded quite a few areas. Here's hoping for a little less rain tomorrow.

Anyway, after making my card for our Dream Valley Summer theme this fortnight, I was "in the zone", so I made these 2 summery cards too. The first is using LOTV Hello Cupcake, coloured with Promarkers and some paper piecing for her skirt and shoes.

Dream Valley Challenge 11 - Summer

It's time for another fabby challenge over at Dream Valley and this fortnight, it is "Summer". Now, I had soooo many options for this challenge: a scrapbook page of Discovery Cove, a mint green bracelet with dragonflies, another few cards, but eventually chose this card. So, my point is that it should be easy peasy!

I've used a Greeting Farm Anya image, coloured with Promarkers, a variety of mint green and green papers, orange ribbon (from somebody's birthday cake), Sizzix vine and some buttons and flowers to finish.

Little Ballerina

Having just loaded Lou's card onto her blog, I've realised that I can enter some of the same challenges too, so I'm organising that now before I forget.... or get involved doing more mundane (but necessary) stuff!!

So, I have also used LOTV Little Ballerina and coloured her with Promarkers and Stardust Stickles. As you can see, I've kept the card mega clean and simple, with just a few bits of paper, some stitching with rafia, some flowers and buttons.

Dream Valley Challenge 10 - Use Ribbon

This time at Dream Valley, we would like you to "Use Ribbon", which offers you sooooo many possibilities, and we have a prize from Crafty Ribbons up for grabs: the New Bev Bag. Remember that you can submit any craft project you like as long as you are using ribbon.

I decided that I finally had a use for one of the silver curtain rings I'd kept a wee while ago, much to hubby's puzzlement!

I used some black satin ribbon (aka satiny shoelaces from my Reebok Shape-ups) and wound it carefully around the ring.

Then I made a centre for the pendant using a headpin, a 20mm crystal fireball and some Swarovski briolette beads and attached it with the ribbon, which was then sewn in place.

I then sewed more briolettes and some 4mm crystal spacers for some more bling and finished with a silver chain and more ribbon.

It DID take lots of blocks of 10 mins, in between making dinner / sorting disputes between children / housework / etc, but I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out.

A Few Cards

Yep, you read that correctly, there follows a few cards....my goodness, I'll be blog hopping and leaving comments again at this rate!!

Anyway, the first is using one of my much loved, and used, boys from LOTV, Lazy Afternoon. He looks so comfy having a snooze under that little tree, doesn't he? Wonder what he's dreaming about? As usual, he has been coloured with Promarkers (and I've just been skim reading on the Passion for Promarkers challenge blog that there is going to be a fine nib attachment coming out - woohoo!). The papers are Papermania Birdsong, which I love.

I'd like to enter the Passion for Promarkers challenge of "Park Life" and also, to remind you that Dream Valley's challenge this fortnight is Father's Day. You still have until this Sunday to enter and there are two prizes up for grabs: one from Karen's Doodles and one from One Stop Card Crafts.

And my 2nd card of the evening is one using my Gorjuss Sitting iamge, coloured with Promarkers. The papers are a complete mix of Papermania and 2 Basic Grey ones, but I'm pleased with the result. And I've used some of my much loved Platinum Stickles - soooo versatile! Alas, I do not have lots of time to scan for suitable challenges as Blogger is doing something weird with my dashboard at present, but I thought I'd show it anyway.

Catch up Part 2

Ok, so I've covered holiday (VERY) briefly.......next is Lou's dancing show and my sister's visit.....are you ready?

The dancing show went really well this year and was quite entertaining too! Lou had 2 beautiful costumes and her other one was fine too.

The pink outfit was for her tap dance to a medley of Mary Poppins songs. To be honest, I have no idea about the significance of the butterfly wings but she did look beautiful!

The green was for her ballet dance, which was to Puff the Magic Dragon (the normal childhood version, not the altered adult one!!).

Her third costume was yellow shorts and t-shirt for her acrobatics dance. Lou is rather like me - she tries very hard, but cartwheels and stretchiness is not really our forte, but she had loads of fun, which is definitely the main thing:0)

My sister, Lindsay and nephew, Jakob came over from Austria to stay with us last week. It was brilliant having the space for them to stay with us - lots of catching up and playing. And they were over for the dancing show and Euan's birthday - perfect!

Luckily, all three children got on really well with each other and really enjoyed each others' company.

Euan had a brilliant birthday too, which included a game of musical bumps with his best friend, Lily and Lou too. It made for hilarious viewing!

And finally, (hey, I HEARD that sigh of relief!), the pictures of our views that I promised you ages ago. These are the views from our living room / kitchen. I love looking out at the sunsets, trees, clouds, grass, buildings and the Ochil hills. The telly isn't on nearly as much as it used to be!

As I said before, I'm hoping that normal blogging service can be resumed. I've barely had time for the important stuff, let alone blogging and socialising with my online buddies, but hopefully I'll be able to visit you all soon.

Holiday Catch Up...

Well, it feels like forever since I posted anything here, but hopefully the chaos of the last month or two will settle down and I can get back into posting regularly.

But first, some pics from our May holiday in Florida. I can't wait to scrap some of the photos and have printed one for Father's Day on Sunday, although the frame I was able to get isn't right, so I'll need to change it after Sunday!!

The first 2 were taken at Discovery Cove. Lou and Euan loved wearing their wetsuits like the dolphin trainers and loved watching them.

Scott and I had a dolphin swim and that was an absolutely amazing experience- they are such clever, intuitive, powerful and beautiful creatures and we loved learning about and handling them. Lou was a little disappointed that she'd decided she wouldn't do it this time but hopefully next time we go...

The 2nd 2 photos were taken at the villa, which was gorgeous! It was brilliant having our own swimming pool - Lou could wear her bikini and the two of them could pretend to be dolphin trainers and dolphins. Lou's a pretty good swimmer and Euan is fearless and tries to copy his big sis, so we made sure we were able to spend plenty of time at the villa.

We were really lucky with the weather this year - no freak rain storms, so lots of sunshine and heat - lovely!

Now, I was originally going to post another few things, but I think I'll do it as separate posts. Lets you get a drink and a snack in between!!

Dream Valley Challenge 8 - Stamp Something

We're back from an absolutely brilliant holiday in Florida and settling back to normal life once again, or at least trying to! It's been a bit of a struggle, I must admit, after we've all had such a fantastic time. I'll try to get a few pics uploaded, but I can't promise when.....

But anyway, it's time for another challenge over at Dream Valley, and this fortnight's theme is "Stamp Something". We know that most of you adore stamping, and a good majority of us have obsessions that are unhealthy for our bank balances, so this should be an easy-peasy challenge.

Now, you may already have noticed this, but MY obsession, well one of them at least, is LOTV images. I already have my eye on the new collection and will use the excuse that Euan's birthday is coming up VERY soon and he would REALLY love the Pirate Bear image, especially after seeing the pirate themed Sealion and Otter show at Seaworld....ahem! So I have used one of my gorgeous LOTV boy stamps, Riding My Bike for this challenge. As usual, he is coloured with Promarkers, with some fineliners used for the finer details (a downside to the lovely Promarkers). I used my circle nesties, some rafia and scraps of Papermania Birdsong papers (which I embossed after seeing the technique before going on holiday).

Dream Valley Challenge 7

Hopefully this will post successfully, as I will be in Florida, enjoying the sunshine, spending time with my wonderful hubby and kiddlywinks and going to see Shamu and the Dolphins!

So, it is Challenge 7 over at Dream Valley and we have the challenge of "Something Old and New" for you - so use something new AND something old from your stash!! Simple, huh?

And this challenge, we are sponsored by the wonderful Digi’s With Attitude!. Some of the team have used images very kindly given by Digi's With Attitude, which look fab, don't they?

I had to have a bit of change of plan for my posting. I had been organised enough to make a card for this challenge, ahead of going on holiday, but had to change to a necklace.....hubby had to take the laptop to work on the only day I had available to do my blog post.....and the photo of my card was on there.....and I didn't have the card to take another photo as it was needed for that day....typical!

But as I was letting the lovely Melly know of my problem, I remembered that I had made this necklace the other week, for my holidays, using a NEW gold heart charm that I found in one of the high street shops and mixed with OLD wooden and gold beads that I've had for ages - phew! (Apologies for the poor photo, but our sunshine had been replaced by rain and I really didn't have time to faff about trying to get better lighting - loads of faffing never seems to result in any better a picture for me, so it seemed like a complete waste of very little time!)

Dream Valley Challenge 6

Anyway, our challenge this fortnight is "Flowers" - easy peasy, huh? And we're sponsored by the wonderful One Stop Card Crafts.

So, I have made a 65th birthday card, using Henbury flowery papers (pink cos I can't bear the thought of cutting into the gorgeous blue one!), my beloved circle and scalloped nesties and some lovely 3D flowers and leaves. Loads of flowers!

Lou's Birthday Card

I still can't believe it really, but my little girl turned 7 yesterday! Where on earth does time go to? It really seems like no time at all when she was lying in her carseat in the living room, with Scott and I both looking at her in awe, wonder and a slight feeling of panic! But she has grown into a beautiful, intelligent girl, with a lovely nature and a liking for living in her own little world, one filled with fairies and romance, no doubt!

As usual, I was issued with my orders: Gorjuss Bear Hug, with a paper-pieced dress, pale blue and NO BOWS. So after taking apart my first failed attempt, I managed to create something that I was pleased with and that Lou really liked, phew! I decided it needed just a little hint of another colour, so decided on pink. And the teddy has been coloured like her favourite teddy, Dandelion.

It's hubby's birthday today and the poor thing's working today AND Monday, but we have a birthday dinner at our favourite restaurant to look forward to later today... A homemade birthday cake for Lou & Scott to share...Lou's party is tomorrow...And we're catching up with our lovely friends Clare, Andrew, Arran and Lewis....and maybe another BBQ on Sunday, if all goes to plan. Best get this posted then!

Dream Valley Challenge 5

Hurray, I'm back, although only temporarily just now! The house move went ok, but we've had the usual list of stuff not working, doors not shutting, stuff not installed correctly, etc, etc. It would appear that mine and hubby's and many of our friends' standards are WAY higher than those of the folk who we've swapped houses with!! But we're getting there with the help of a great joiner, painter and lots of hard work. The kids love the space and we love the views we have of the Ochil hills, the Forth and all the houses and industry in between!!

Between my phone, laptop and a mobile broadband dongal thingy, I've managed to (hopefully) bring you this post for our Dream Valley Challenge 5 - EASTER. This challenge, we are sponsored by Stitchy Bear and some of the team have used a couple of their oh so cute Lillie images. I would have as well, except that the computer and printer are still packed up safely until the wonderful day that we have a phone line and proper broadband again! Hopefully that day will be 28th April, but.......

House Move

Good morning everyone.

Apologies for not being around much lately....we're moving house tomorrow so I've had to do much more mundane stuff like packing and cleaning, rather than crafting!! Just a bit more cleaning to go.....and a big truck.....and a VERY short journey!

Not sure when I'll be back to Blogland - hopefully it won't be too long, but dependent upon unpacking and internet connection and what we get up to in our Easter hols, which start on Monday.

A Spring Themed Card

I adore Spring: the air is different, the sun starts to shine a bit more, there's warmth in the sun, new shoots start to show through and bulbs burst into colour! And these papers really remind me of those things. And I can imagine this girl sitting in the sunshine with a wee cup of coffee hiding behind the tree stump!

I've used Sugar Nellie's Peek-a-Bunny, coloured with Promarkers and with a paper-pieced pinny. I think I might use this for my mam's Mother's Day card as she would love these cheery papers and image too.

I can't believe that it's time for our 3rd Dream Valley challenge already! Where does the time go? This fortnight, our challenge is Mother's Day and we are sponsored by the fantastic Digi's With Attitude. The lucky winner will receive $10 Canadian Dollars to spend at the online shop - fab!!

As you can see, I decided to make a necklace and bracelet set and card. Hopefully my MIL will like it. Still need to decide what I'll create for my mam, but I still have until 3rd April - aaah, not quite as long as I'd thought....best get moving then!!

Some sweet LOTV

You know how I LOVE Lili of the Valley......well, when I was ordering some of the cute new animal stamps for Melly's birthday, some "fell" into my online basket for me!! Now I KNOW I shouldn't have, but I'm sooooo glad I did!

The top is Birthday Bumps, I and love colouring bears - Cocoa, Caramel and Sandstone Promarkers blend so perfectly for bears, so I'm always happy with the results. I followed the sketch at LOTV challenge and used my new Basic Grey Marjolaine papers (which ahem, also fell in my basket when birthday shopping). I took the photos last night so the photo colours aren't 100% right, but you get the idea.

My second, ever so cute stamp is Spring Swing. And I'm always happy at the result of colouring greys so rabbits are a fave of mine too. Lately, I've been setting myself challenges like "use up some of my OLD paper", "use up scraps" and "use some of the mountain of 7 x 5 cards I have"! So this is one of the results of my last challenge. Some of the leaves are 3D and extended beyond the original image. I've also used a flower punch that had been neglected for AGES! See, I'm trying REALLY hard to be good......

Anyway, the sun is still shining, Euan is still sleeping and I have approx 20 mins before I need to leave to collect Lou from school, so I think that I must go and colour another new image quickly.........Have a lovely day, peeps.

Dream Valley Challenge 2 - New Beginnings

Wow, what a tremendous number of entries we had for our first Dream Valley Challenge. I don't think any of us expected so many, so we've been smiling widely throughout the week - thank you!

Our second challenge is New Beginnings, so we're looking for any projects that reflect this theme: wedding, baby, new home....

As I had downloaded the beautiful Bambino from FunkyKits this week, I absolutely HAD to make another card using this beautiful image. I've kept the layout simple again to show off the image (although that's normally my style anyway!). The papers are Papermania Summer Bloom and I got to use my new circle and scalloped circle nesties. I only coloured the hat this time and added some stickles to the pom pom - not sure if this was a step too far or ok...

Remember that for Dream Valley Challenges, you can make anything you like as long as it follows the theme. The team have come up with some beautiful projects to inspire you.

Bambino in Mint Green

Oh at last, Bambino is available to download from Funkykits!! I loved this as soon as I saw it on the Sugar Nellie blog and then on Judy's blog, but it's JUST as gorgeous in real life.

Originally, I was going to leave it black and white, as it's such a perfectly drawn picture, but I'd printed out a couple of pages on paper (trying to grapple with the printer!) and decided there was no harm in having a little play. The hats were coloured in a range of baby colours, then I tried the skin. Amazingly, I actually liked my colouring attempts so kept most of them!

I've used the gorgeous sketch at Sugar Bowl and their theme of Clean and Simple. I also used the Facebook SugarNellie theme of Mint Choc Chip (although my "choc chip is actually black as I couldn't for the life of me find my brown card - shhhh!!).

I decided that an Anything Goes challenge was a great excuse to make some jewellery, and this was the result: The pendant has been recycled from another necklace, and the beads are a collection of 10-15mm beads.

Paper Pieced Bella

I LOVE paper piecing - it's a great way to use up some scraps and the results normally look fab.

So, this is Bella Bunting and she's been coloured with Promarkers, paper pieced using scraps from my fabulous Basic Grey Oliver paper pad and some Diamond Stickles details have been added.

The background paper is a collection of some more scrap strips, stuck and mounted onto a larger scrap of lime paper, with the short scrappy bits of peel off lines. The flower is actually NOT made from scraps (various flowers and a pearl from stash), but the heart leaves have been punched from scrap lime paper.

I love the Simply Sassy stamps for being able to colour the eyes, and this one's hair is reasonably easy to colour too. I've definitely got my eye on some of the new Sassys coming out soon, as well as the new animal LOTV, new Gorjuss stamps, older Sassys, some circle nesties, some lovely new paper, glue, .............Getting all shaky at the thought of window shopping (and MAYBE buying) some new stuff!

My first Design Team Position - Celebration!!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 53

At last, I've managed to enter the Sugar Bowl again - it feels like forever since I last entered!

I've used the Mary Hall image Circle of Love for this baby card, but I can't wait until the Simply Adorable baby becomes available - such an amazing drawing and super cute....Here's Judy's card to show you what I mean.

Circle of Love has been coloured with Promarkers and I've used the fab sketch from the Sugarbowl. I almost stuck to the colours in the photo too, but decided that some orange flowers would look rather nice and completely forgot that I was trying to stick to the colours too!! The papers are a mix of the fabulous Memory Box Spearmint, FF checked freebie and Swiss Dots embossed. And I found a piece of blue checked ribbon that was JUST the correct size - meant to be!

LOTV - The Girls

As you can see, my obsession with Lili of the Valley continues! This set of cards are for the girls. The first is using Born to Shop and is fab to colour. As you can see in the majority of my cards, I LOVE my simple layouts, especially when the images are so cute! Born to Shop has a mix of the Basic Grey Oliver (red spotty) paper and Papermania Birdsong papers, with some ribbon and buttons to finish. Think I'll add some gloss to the sunglasses.

It's My Party has so much attitude! And with this sentiment, I thought it could be for an adult who's not too happy about birthdays!! The background is a collection of scraps from the Basic Grey Oliver pad - decided these boyish papers actually suited her quite well. She has some Platinum Stickles on her tiara and shoe laces and around the image - not normally brave enough to use the darker stickles to edge the images, but I really liked it.

I adore Fairies - On Tiptoe! I decided to try a different colour combo for her AND used turquoise glitter glue on her wings. I thought the Papermania Birdsong paper was too pretty to cover up, hence the hardly there layout. I chose the flowers to mirror the colours I'd used in the image, but maybe the card looks a bit autumnal now. Think I might try the same colours of fairy with blue papers and see the effect....

LOTV - The Boys

It would appear that I'm starting to have a bit of a problem with Lili of the Valley images - I can't stop using them! They're so cute and great to colour and seem to suit children AND adults!

Anyway, the first set are for boys or men, using Lazy Afternoon, By the River, Deckchair Dreaming, Big Present and Balloon Bunny. I've used the fabulous Basic Grey Oliver and Papermania Birdsong papers.

And there's loads of girl ones too. Hopefully get them on later.

If I get some more computer time, I'll see if there are any challenges I can enter...Have a good day.

Last Week's Stall

Hello everybody. Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I've been really busy crafting jewellery and cards AND starting Euan at Playgroup, but not had enough computer time to blog my creations!!

Last Friday, I took a stall at my daughter's school Pamper Evening, organised by the Parents Association. It's only the second time I've done something like this (the first being Clare's Toddler Group), but I'm glad to say that it went well. I quite enjoyed myself and took some money and an order, which meant that I could give £14 commission to the association, not a lot, but something!! And I got loads of great experience. Not sure sure yet how much has been raised.

As you can see, I had to be inventive for the display as I didn't want to spend loads on special display stands. I'd had the option of borrowing a card stand, but unfortunately that didn't happen due to illness in the family. The gorgeous writing sets were created by my bestest friend, Susan. Her blog is here.

Last Night's Cards

Woohoo, at last I've been able to make some cards!! And this was my first. It's the gorgeous Sugar Nellie Art from the Heart image that I ~~got~~ ordered for my Christmas and I LOVE her. She's been coloured with Promarkers and I'm not entirely happy with the colouring - needs much more shading, but it's ok for the first attempt.

The swirl paper is Clare Curd (thanks, Crafty-Clare x) and the others are K & Co Que Sera Sera (thanks, Melly x). Last night, I challenged myself to use scraps and as much ribbon as possible - I have loads of ribbon and am always drawn to it, but judging by the amount I have in my drawer, I don't use it very often!!

As soon as I saw this Mary Hall image, Circle of Love, on Elaine's amazing blog, I KNEW I had to buy it! And it's really easy to colour too (coloured with Blush, Almond, Vanilla, Cool Aqua, Duck Egg and Cornflower Promarkers). Again, I've used paper scraps and ribbon and the beautiful heart charm is from Crafty-Emma's Store.

And here it is for a girl:

And finally, a LOTV thank you card, with the Hello Cupcake image (that Louise was lucky enough to win at Messy's Mini Missions). She was brilliant to colour (with Pastel Beige, Rose PInk, Baby Pink, Orchid promarkers). And I finally had a use for the stamped cupcakes from Clare!! Again, scraps of paper used, which include Henbury flowery paper, which I love, and some rafia. Stardust Stickles just HAD to be added for the final touch. And I can enter:

I haven't gone awaol

Hello, my lovely peeps.

Just wanted to let you know that I haven't gone awol, and there's nothing wrong, just haven't had much crafting time lately, what with Christmas, being away for New Year and getting back into normality. The little bit of crafting time I had on Sunday, I spent changing a few of the bits of jewellery I've made so that I'm 100% happy with them. (I'm taking a stall at my daughter's school fundraising Pamper Evening, so I need to make some more jewellery and ensure that I have a good spread of cards to offer.) I've also got some thank cards to make, which I'm planning to use my new Art from the Heart stamp from Sugar Nellie - she's stamped and ready to be coloured up with my Promarkers - hopefully tomorrow...

So peeps, I hope you've all had a great Christmas and New Year and that you're getting lots of crafty time. Should be back soon....

PS - Hope you like the new blog design I've chosen. Had a bit of an identity crisis, but I'm finally happy with the one I've chosen - it includes the colours I love.

Simply Sassy Competition - 2 Entries

Phew, it looks like I'm going to make the deadline of Sugar Nellie's wonderful Simply Sassy competition, where you have the chance to win a place on the Simply Sassy DT AND a Spellbinder Grand Caliber !! Looked a bit unlikely as the postie only managed to get in to our estate yesterday, thankfully WITH my Simply Sassy (early Christmas pressies) stamps.

Round one of the competition is to create a card using only White on White (WOW), in order to show your colouring technique. I've really enjoyed this restriction as it appeals to my (normally) clean and simple style. It's also meant that I've tried a few different colour combos for the actual image.

Bella Bunting immediately caught my eye and, due to the competition deadline looming, I decided it was best to perfect my colouring of this one image, rather than colouring all 3 of my new characters!

So, the first has been coloured with Promarkers and layered on to Cuttlebug embossed hearts and rafia lace. Just a couple of white flowers and a sentiment finish it off.

Hair: Cocoa, Caramel, Sandstone, Satin
Skin: Almond, Pastel Pink, Blush
Outfit: Honeycomb, Saffron, Vanilla
Banner: Leaf Green, Meadow Green

I decided to try blond hair and blue eyes for this attempt and, I'm pleased to say, it worked. (It's great having eyes that can be coloured - perfect for personalising.) I used the Tea Green and red colour combo again as I loved in for my Angel Wishes card. As you can see, all of the edges have been edged with Stardust Stickles and a larger card blank makes it look even more CAS.

Skin: Almond, Blush, Vanilla
Outfit and banner: Tea Green, Duck Egg Blue, Poppy, Burgundy

Angel Wishes

I'm really pleased with how this has turned out. As most of you will know, Sugarnellie is having a wonderful Simply Sassy competition. It's ok, I haven't lost my marbles, I know this isn't a Simply Sassy image! It's just that I thought I'd have a practice with using only white, apart from the coloured image. (Originally, I was planning to get a few Simply Sassy stamps for my Christmas, but I think I'm gonna have to bring that forward to have a go at the competition......and hope that the postie can get it to me before the deadline!)

But, this is Angel Wishes, coloured with Promarkers (list of colours later). I decided to be brave and use red against the beautiful Tea Green and I'm quite surprised that it worked! I've also used Cuttlebug Stars and Swiss Dots embossing folders and Sizzix Swirls embossing plate. All edges and all the punched snowflakes have been covered with Stardust Stickles.

Not sure who this card will be for....might just keep it for myself.......or maybe Lou would like it....?!

Some Awards

Good morning folks, hope you're all coping alright with the weather. We are on our 5th day off from school and I'm doubtful that the paths and roads will be cleared before Monday, although you never know! We have approx -9deg and some more snow forecast for today. Hubby is managing to get to work and back, which is good for us as he can also pop in to Tesco on the way home (not that they've much left, though!)!!

So, with all this time in the house, we've been busy making (and WRITING!!) Christmas cards, but first, I'd like to post some awards I've very kindly been given.

The first, was given to me by Debs and Elaine ahem, at the beginning of November:( I'm so sorry for taking so long to post it - November seems to have vanished in a rush of activity and chaos, but hopefully a few more snow days will catch us back up!!

The next 2 were from Melly - thanks Hun.

Ok, for all of these, I am to tell you 3 things about myself and pass on to 5 other bloggers. Mmmmm this is hard!

1. A long time ago, I used to be a Primary school teacher, until I took on an extended summer job (as I was only ever on a temporary contract with teaching) and found that I actually liked having my evenings and weekends to actually do some nice stuff!

2. I am extremely lucky to have 2 beautiful children who (normally) get on with each other and like crafting! And a hubby who does NOT like crafting, or all the paraphernalia (had to look up how to spell that one!) that goes with it, but DOES tolerate it.

3. I have discovered a new hobby- snow clearing! And it seems to appeal to my perfectionist nature in that I am obsessed (like hubby) in keeping the drive and road as clear as possible, with neat banks of snow that are currently almost as tall as me! This is a pic from Tuesday. The posts are now well and truly covered. I'll try to get an up to day pic later.

EDIT - Ok, so I exaggerated a little, but it FEELS like it's as high as I am when I'm trying to heap yet more snow onto it! Here's a pic from this morning - Lou is 128cm tall! And we have a light dusting of snow again.

I'm loving the LOTV Christmas images and these bunnies are no exception. I'd left this image til last as I thought it would be more fiddly to colour than the others but it's actually fine, and I love blending the greys and browns. It's been coloured with Promarkers and Stardust Stickles.

LOTV Deckchair Dreaming

Morning peeps. Apologies for lack of posting lately. Time seems to be in short supply just now, so blogging has been relegated in the list.

This was another of the fabulous stamps that my wonderful friend, Clare gave me for my birthday and I LOVE him - he's called Deckchair Dreaming, he's cute and soooo easy to colour (especially now that I've added Sandstone and Satin to my Promarker collection)! And have you noticed the (not so) deliberate mistake - I've coloured the bird as a robin and then coloured beneath the deckchair as sand!! Nevermind.

He's been made into a card for my bestest friend, Susan's daughter Lily to give to her grandad. I've used the Cute Card Thursday sketch and distressed all the edges (unusual for me). I've also done a couple of cross stitches with the rafia. The papers are a mix of Gemstones card, MME Bloom n Grow and Summer Driggs download - trying to use up some scraps.

I have finally started making Christmas cards and Melly - thank you for the gorgeous LOTV images you gave me for my birthday - I love 'em!

This first one is using the sketch from last week's Cute Card Thursday challenge and Woodland Christmas image, coloured with Promarkers and some Stardust Stickles. Love these Henbury papers too, especially the lime green ones!

This gorgeous Collecting the Tree image is a doddle to colour and looks really cute. I've deliberately kept the layout simple to show off the image, so I've used my beloved Labels Twelve nesties, Swiss Dots embossing folder and some ribbon from stash. And the sentiment was a freebie with the Docrafts mag.

As you can see, James Bear In the Snow has featured prominently so far....

...Together with Sugar Nellie's Pippin with Presents and James Bear Deck the Halls....

...and the freebie embossing tree from Docrafts mag. The white embossed Christmas Trees look much better in real life. I've really enjoyed making all these - the same but different - each theme similar but not the same so I haven't gotten bored yet!

After seeing Debbi's tutorials on how to colour black hair and red hair, I HAD to have a go. Unfortunately, I don't have ANY of the colours she used, so I used Cocoa, Caramel, Honeycomb and Saffron and managed to get red hair that I was happy with.

Autumn Card

Ok, so it seems I've missed most / all of the autumn inspired challenges but I'll have a wee look and see if it fits any challenges, and check that the sketch I followed is still valid....(edit: The Creative Inpirations sketch was last week and this week's theme is Spooky - even I can't get a link for that!!!)

This is the card for my sister's wedding anniversary next week. I've coloured the little Hanglar images (thanks so much, Clare x) with Promarkers in the colours of their wedding outfits. (Reini is Austrian and they were married in Austrian national dress in Austria, hence the bold colours.) The leaves were used on their place cards or table decorations and the beautiful K & Co Que Sera papers (thanks Mel x) suited the Autumn theme perfectly.

This, I think, my favourite stamp from the LOTV stamp sheet that Clare gave me for my B'day (thanks, Hun x). He's so cute and I think he'd suit a range of ages. He's been coloured with Promarkers.

I've coloured her with Promarkers and made sure I coloured her with blond hair as the majority of the children's birthdays I have coming up are for children with blond hair!! Her hairband, waistband, hearts and shoes have all been Stickled for a bit of glitz and I've stuck her with some foam pads.

Once again, I have used my gorgeous Memory Box Spearmint paper, teamed with some embossed pearly paper and teal card. Some pink rafia, silver heart charm and flowers to finish.

I'm glad I'm getting the chance to post something this morning - feels like ages since the weekend when I made these.

The first is for an order for a friend for her dad's 50th birthday and he loves formula one. I remembered I had this fab racing car, recycled from one of Scott's birthday cards from last year. I used the Our Creative Corner sketch and decided to make an easel card as it's been an age since I last made one. The papers and letters are Basic Grey Cupcake. The backgrounds have been embossed with Cuttlebug Hearts folder and Sizzix Checkered plate. And my good old Nesties labels 12 have been used again too.

Ok, so I've decided which card to enter in the Sugar Bowl Sweetie Search. As I said before, this is a position I would REALLY love (such a good excuse to use the many Sugar Nellie stamps I have!), so I had to be 100% pleased with my card. On my journey to make the right decision, I've used four different images and 4 slightly different interpretations of the sketch. Two are really simple and one has quite a lot of stuff on it for a 5 x 5 card and for me!

So the first one is my favourite (I think!) and the one I've used to enter the search. It's A Boy's Best Friend - one of my favourite Sugar Nellies, coloured with Tan, Cocoa, Honeycomb, Saffron, Blush, Almond and Ice Grey 1/3 Promarkers. The papers are Memory Box Spearmint (and I've just found out that it's been discontinued!!!!). Woodware buttons and the sentiment have been sewn on with orange rafia - A little detail in otherwise simplicity. The edges have been inked with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

My second favourite (maybe?!) is using Pets Corner, coloured with Promarkers - he's sooo cute and pretty easy to colour. Spearmint papers and Woodware buttons again and a Sizzix embossing plate for the circle.

And the third is my absolute fave image, Daisy! I don't know anyone who doesn't love Daisy! Love colouring her every time, this time with Promarkers. A lot more "stuff" on this little card, but hopefully not too much - rafia lace, leaves, a flower coloured with Poppy promarker to match Daisy's hair and a couple of green gems. Considered using this as my official entry, but it seems that a lot of people love Daisy and have used her for their entry, so I changed my mind....hope I don't live to regret it!

And finally, Bedtime Stories. Don't like how I've coloured his hair on this one, but I DO like his top! The papers are a Summer Driggs free download called "Dryer Lint at Tiffany's" and is gorgeous - greys with a hint of Tiffany Blue. Some ribbon on the "bookmark" greetings and some gorgeous dew drops to finish.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 43

It's a brilliant sketch over at the Sugar Bowl this week - fairly simple, which suits my style and the prize is AMAZING! And when my new Memory Box Spearmint papers arrived this morning, I was desperate to put the 2 together!! These papers are even more gorgeous in real life!

I used my beautiful Purrfect Playmates image, coloured with Promarkers and her apron has been paper-pieced. I kept exactly to the sketch, just adding a little pink rafia to the circle and to sew on the buttons.

I also made a card for the Sweetie search (how could I possibly NOT enter this time?!). I'm perfectly happy with it, but I'm going to make a second and choose the best to apply - I must give it the best chance possible as it would be such a brilliant position to have! So I haven't posted it yet.

And this is the card I made using the scraps from the first 2 cards and the new leaves, flowers and dewdrops in my birthday money package that arrived this morning. Seeing the photo, I think I'll add a little more detail and Stardust Stickles to the butterfly and flowers. The circle was filled with scrap strips stuck behind the circle (my fave technique for using up my scraps). The layout (hopefully) disguises the fact that the circle is not central.

Had a brill time making the 3 cards this afternoon, while Euan was sleeping. Think I need to create again, seeing as the kiddiwinks are in bed and hubby is still working....have a nice night!

Clean and Simple Cards

I had a great day yesterday. I made 4 new cards for orders and added some lettering to another and sold a pair of earrings and a necklace - hurray!!

But now I need to post as I CAN'T let some of these challenges go by without entering!

So this first card uses those cute Forever Friends bears, coloured with tan, blush and ivory promarkers. I've used a mix of beautiful Papermania Henbury and Heather Capsule Collection papers, with some silver mirri card. As is usual for me, now that I've accepted that I'm a clean and simple girl, the layout is clean and simple! I love the challenge of planning the layers carefully so that the adding of flowers or brads is still a tidy finish. And those labels 12 nesties strike again!

A few with my new nesties

Ok, so you all know how much I've loved using Clare's Labels 2 nesties, but now I have my own set - labels 12. (Actually, I already have the ovals that I never use, but....) and they're fab! And definitely "me" - fairly simple with just a little detail!

I stamped a Hampstead flower onto some watercolour paper that had previously been coloured with distress inks, then coloured it with Orchid promarker. I used Papermania Heather Capsule collection paper, some Coredinations card and a flash of Sunshine Capsule paper, together with yellow and purple ribbon - all layered carefully for a clean finish. I haven't added a sentiment yet - I'll wait and see what I need!

Apologies for the collection of cards again, but I don't want to miss the challenges they fit!

The first is using Worried again and I've finally used the SugarBowl sketch and been happy with it! I've also distressed the edges (very unlike me!). With the patterned papers and the sketch I kept the embellies to a minimum and just used the button with little ribbon. The image has been coloured with my Promarkers, including my new ones of Cocoa, Cornflower, Honeycomb and Saffron.

Card with Worried

My first card using the lovely Kathy Hare image "Worried" that I've been after for ages. It's gorgeous, isn't it? So sweet and reminds me of Euan with his big teddy!

I've coloured him with Icy Grey1/3, Pastel Blue, Cornflower, Cocoa, Tan, Blush and Ivory promarkers. I was originally going to follow the Sugar Bowl sketch but it didn't seem to work - don't know why, maybe I was just being fussy! So I followed my own one using some Henbury paper and scraps from other cards. The twine was from Susan (thank you x) and a few little Woodware buttons to finish it off, whilst keeping it clean and simple.

Gorjuss Green Bumble Bee

Tried to get this loaded last night, but Mr Blogger was "unable to locate my picture", despite the picture being there on the little screen! So after 2 failed attempts, I gave up and went and made another card...

This is the Gorjuss Bumble Bee image, which I haven't used for ages. She's for no-one in particular, I just had a (very) little bit of time and wanted to use some of the new bits I got for my birthday, which was on Tuesday. I coloured her with my new Meadow Green and Cocoa promarkers and paper-pieced her dress. I don't know what possessed me to make a green fairy - think I just wanted to try an alternative colour scheme for a girl with this stamp as I normally stick to pink and purple!

Anyway, I've also used my new nesties (thanks, Susan x) and my new leaves and flowers from Melly (thanks, Hun x). A very simple layout due to restricted time and the choice of green, but I think I quite like it! Sparkle always adds something to, doesn't it?

Can't believe it's Sunday night already! Had a great day: Lazy-ish morning, followed by a walk up Dumyat, a complete drookin' walking down Dumyat, failed search for somewhere open to buy chips and brown sauce, home for a panini and to warm up after said drookin', then an afternoon of crafting - bliss!

Ok, so hopefully I'll manage to get my post done, complete with non-deleted photos!

So the first card, is the beautiful LOTV Fairy on Tiptoe, coloured with Pastel Blue, Denim Blue and China Blue Promarkers. I was soooooo tempted to use the new promarkers I ordered for my birthday, which is on Tuesday, but I thought hubby might go mad and I couldn't think of a legitimate excuse to tell Louise......so I'm being patient....but roll on Tuesday!!

Ahem, anyway, the papers are Papermania Henbury and Forever Friends Pink Parfait. I've used the Nesties label 2 that my brilliant friend, Clare, very kindly loaned me (I really don't know how I'm going to manage to give them back, they're fab and indespensible!) The corners have been made using part of a labels frame with sequins and beads sewn on.

Icy Wish Jewellery Set

I didn't get any card making time today, but I DID re-work a jewellery set I made up last night. It's for one of the friend's I used to work with and she asked for silver, black and blue and really liked the heart and ring on the red/black set that I first did a few weeks back. Hopefully she'll like it, but if not, it's for sale to anyone who wants it!!! EDIT - She likes it! Woohoo!!

Tomorrow, I really need to gut the kids' bedrooms but I desperately want to make some cards and maybe another jewellery set. Fingers crossed it all works out....And that I don't unwittingly delete photos of the work I DO get done!!!!

Evening folks

Just a quick post to let you know that I've created a new blog called SusieLou Designs, mainly for my jewellery, to display it and (hopefully) sell it. There's a quick link at the top of my sidebar if anyone would like to take a wee look.

My wonderful friend, Susan, has designed a watermark for me and I've managed to get it to work on my piccies, although it's taken a bit of patience with Fotoflexor and then, all of sudden, came together (maybe I just needed that coffee and cake break!!).

I know that I need to develop the descriptions to ensure that it gives potential customers the info they need, and I could do with improving the photography skills, but I'm sure that this will improve with each posting.

LOTV 30th Card

This was a last minute order from the girls I used to work with, for one of their colleagues. Luckily, I had the image already stamped and coloured with Promarkers, so just had to decide the papers and layout.

The papers are Forever Friends Pink Parfait, layered onto hot pink. The flower has been recycled from an old birthday card, with some Promarker colouring and a sweetie brad centre. The leaves were die cut from one of Clare's Sizzix dies (thank you x) and given some Promarker detail and Stickles edges.

The papers are a free download from Summer Driggs - They're called "Boy Oh Boy" and I love them - used them loads in the past!

And finally I'm getting a chance to catch up with blog land and post something!! Been really busy doing....I don't know what actually....going to the park, swimming, visiting Susan and Lily, stuff!!

Anyway I made these cards using the photos that Susan has taken and very kindly agreed for me to use. I love this pink rose and have used it quite a bit before - I think it really suits wedding and anniversary cards.

And the New Home card is made using her photo of one of the bird houses in Susan's garden, which I think is really pretty. I've added a bit of glitter glue and think it's ok (I was worried it had spoiled it). My sis moves house next week so I'm organised for it - just need to remember to send it!!

Best Friends

I seem to have missed the Lasting Memories Bows & Buttons deadline, but hopefully there'll be a few challenges I can enter anyway.

This is my best friend Susan, whom I've known since high school and she's the best friend anyone could wish for - supportive, enthusiastic, good listener, fun, lovely.....! And I've finally done a layout including her. It was taken at Susan 's sister's wedding 5 years ago, so we've both changed a bit but the essence will always be there.

I've used paper from the fantastic Costco set, together with Hobbycraft Rafia lace, ribbon, flowers from stash and some lovely Prima ones that Elaine sent with my Hanglar prize. Lots of buttons, bows and stitching and very little text - the label says it all!

Ok, so I've recently been through a scrapbooking obsession....well now it's jewellery! I used to make a lot of jewellery, but cards took over as it's easier to pick up/put down in between looking after the kiddywinkles! But I needed to make my sis a pair of earrings for her birthday (as New Look didn't have any that matched the necklace I bought), so I HAD to buy a couple of bracelets, break them, make 2 bracelets and a pair of earrings and it was so much fun!

For going out with Clare and Andrew on Saturday night (for a grown up, child free night!!!), I decided I needed to make a necklace, bracelet and earrings to go with my lovely cobalt blue top. Hubby kept telling me that we could go to a shop and buy something, but I think even he could see that I was having fun! (Fantastic night, by the way - loads of fun, chatting a a little boogie!!)

So while all my stuff is out (and, ahem, after I bought some bits on Friday...), I made this red and black set too. Oh, and had fun decorating some old boxes to co-ordinate!

Do you think that £10 for the necklace, £5 for the earrings and £5 for the bracelets are fair prices (including the decorated box)?

I've had a little browse, but unfortunately I can't find any challenges to enter with it, but nevermind.

Oh, and I was drawn to win Elaine's Hanglar set - how lucky am I?! They were attempted to be delivered today, but unfortunately I was taking Lou to athletics this morning, so I have to wait until tomorrow to actually have them....

I was playing with more scraps and created these offerings. Apologies for the shadows, but it's chucking it down with rain and I'm not so good with un-natural lighting!!

The first is my favourite, created with loads of pink scrap paper strips, the frame from my Nellie's die, which have been embossed with a Fiskars swirls plate. A thick strip of Butterflies and Blossoms paper has been used across the centre and the butterfly is an Impress die layered up. So, I've re-used my paper scraps and frame and recycled some rafia from a bunch of flowers (sadly not my flowers, sniff!).

You know how I like to use up my scraps..and I have a lot of scraps! And I've also borrowed Labels 2 Nesties from Clare, so I decided to try and make a male version of my scrappy card.

My goodness, I'm getting organised - this is a card for one of Louise's friends, Aimee, who is having a joint birthday party with (another of Lou's friends) Eve in August. Eve's card is also made and can be seen at the bottom of the post.

I've coloured the lovely Hanglar image (thanks Clare) with China Blue, Denim Blue and Pastel Blue promarkers for her dress, Ice Grey 1 for her top and tights, Blush, Baby Pink and Almond for her skin and I've tried blond hair using Tan, Pastel Yellow and Ivory. Her ribbons, dots and top of her boots have had Stardust Stickles added.

Elegant Anniversary

The colour scheme is a bit different for me, but I really like it. On Monday night, Clare very kindly punched some card with her Martha Stewart heart border punch. It's gorgeous, especially when it fell beside a scrap of this Victoria and Albert paper! Clare also punched some Martha Stewart butterflies for me, so I decided to combine the butterfly, border and paper together.

I decided that together it all looked quite romantic, so chose this sentiment from my Papermania Anniversary sentiments. I've coloured the butterfly with Tan, Blush and Ivory Promarkers and Stickles. There's also some Papermania card for matting and the background has been stamped with Clare Curd flowers (that Clare lent me on Monday night) with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink and coloured with Ivory promarker and Stickles. Some Sheer ribbon and a couple of roses to complete.

Willow Dressing Up

I adore this stamp, Willow Dressing Up. I don't know where she's going, or where she bought her dress but she looks very pretty!

Originally, I was going to use the fresh Summer Bloom papers but it didn't look right. But these lovely pink and chocolate papers (from my Costco bargain) look much more fitting for a night out! The charm is a cosmetic bag (bought from The Works) and fitted the theme well and I thought that a rose, some ribbon and pearls just finished it off nicely without looking too much. I used the fab Whiff of Joy sketch for challenge 83 (and there's also a design team call this challenge).

Frosted Designs Top 3 and a Card

Wooohooo, I made top 3 at Frosted Designs! Their challenge this week was to use felt and I used one of the gorgeous Henbury butterflies on a keepsake box for my friend's new daughter, Aoife. I am so chuffed!

Yesterday was hubby and my 10th wedding anniversary. We made a conscious decision NOT to do anything special last night as we've normally found that when we plan to do that, somebody decides to visit us or one of the bairns is up.

And predictably, Euan would not settle and was still awake at 9.30pm! Don't know what was up with him - he normally goes down no bother round about 7pm and that's him til the next day. Although I DO remember Lou going through a similar phase so maybe his brain's just computing some new info, or something! Anyway, it just proves that it was the right decision last night and we'll have a special dinner another night.

It's just occurred to me that I STILL haven't posted the anniversary card I made Scott a few weeks ago!! I'd like to enter the following challenges with it:

Fiona's 50th Card

And this is Fiona's 50th card. Fiona loves teddies, so LOTV Teddy with Flower was perfect for her. I also liked the LOTV sketch, so used that.

I've used Papermania Summer Bloom and MME Bloom and Grow papers, Swiss Dots embossing folder, XCut punched flowers that have been stamped with Clare Curd's flower stamp. Teddy has been coloured with Tan, Blush and Ivory Promarkers, with Baby Pink, Rose Pink, Leaf Green, Pastel Beige and Pastel Yellow for the flower. The paper edges have been edged with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and I've used Stardust Stickles for a bit of sparkle.

Moira's 50th Card

My MIL asked me to make 50th birthday card for her friends Moira and Fiona, who are twins.

Moira's proved a little more tricky than anticipated. I used the Rose stamp from the June goody bag and thought that I'd cut it with oval nestie and colour it with distress inks and layer it, but it looked really old fashioned.

So then I tried it as a rectangle and coloured with Promarkers and was much happier with the result. I also cut the distress ink roses from the oval and layered them onto this card. The papers are the beautiful Papermania Summer Bloom.

I've used the Friday Sketchers sketch, which I really like as it suits my simpler style.

We've had 2 lovely days of sunshine (thanks Mandy, Mandy and Rica for sending it to us!!), but it's back to chucking it down with rain today! Nevermind, we've still had a lovely day today with Susan and Lily over to play - hope you didn't need a boat to get home!

Truly Scrumptious Sketch

Well so far, it isn't raining, although the sky does look a bit dark in places! We're off to visit my mam and dad today, so off out very soon.

And on to the card: I loved this Truly Scrumptious Sketch and their theme of How does your garden grow, so had to have a go. And I had a pile of scraps, plus my beautiful new Summer Bloom paper to use.

So, this nice and simple card (using the sketch) has the frame from the Sizzix vine I cut for a previous project, edged with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and Stickles and mounted onto MME Bloom and Grow checked paper, then onto mirri card and a scrap of DCWV Butterflies and Blossoms card and Gemstones card. The sentiment is Clare Curd. The amazing green and black flower is Prima Rebellious, with punched circle middles and punched flowers. And the dotty paper is the new Papermania Summer Bloom, edged with ink.

Have a lovely day folks, and any of you in the warmer south, PLEASE send up some heat and sunshine:0) The garden is sodden and the bairns are only getting out briefly to play in between showers (although the wet weather did mean that we had a cinema visit yesterday to see Shrek, which was FAB!!).

A Scrappy Weekend

Well, yesterday afternoon, we decided to pass a rainy afternoon (after an already soggy morning) with a visit to Costco! And I am soooo glad we did as they had this amazing scrapbooking kit for only £35 and already I've done 3 layouts and can't stop raving to hubby about how fab the kit is and thanking him for agreeing to me buying it (bearing in mind that it was £35 of craft stuff I don't NEED and the box was about a metre long!!) So, it contained: 2 12x12 albums, 24 papers, ribbon, chipboard shapes, the most amazing brads I've ever seen, stickers, frames, sticky ribbon, tags, photo corners, alphabet stamps, pattern stamps, LOADS of beautiful stuff!

Ahem, so I decided that it was Lou's turn to have a photo scrapped and chose the one from this holiday (CHANGE layout) and then came across this photo from last summer that I just though was perfect for my wonderful new papers from my fabulous new kit! From the kit, I used paper, chipboard shape with letter stickers, scralloped velvety ribbon, LOVE sticky ribbon, tag, shaped chipboard that was around the box (and I echoed this shape on 2 other paper strips, gem brads, metal flower brad, dragonfly brad, shiny opaque brads, photo corner, alphabet stamps...and added my fab Prima Rebellious flowers (that I won from Craft Garden a while back), with some from my stash. And I am so pleased with the layout and all the embellies and we get to KEEP a scrapbook layout...!

Anyway, I'd like to enter this layout in the One Stop Craft - Monochromatic.

The second layout is called Change and details how my little girl has changed in the last year. I used the lovely Creative Scrappers sketch 111. Again lots from the kit used, plus some diecut flowers from Melly, and flowers from stash.

Simple Butterfly

I LOVED the sketch over at Our Creative Corner - it's so simple and beautiful that I had to have a go!

I decided on an unusual colour combo for me: blue, chocolate and orange - it just appealed that night! Gemstones chocolate and orange paper and Core'dinations So Mod card, embossed with Sizzix Swirls and sanded. Some Papermania buttons and some beads have been sewn onto the butterfly and bow.

EDIT - Aaaargh - just realised I've missed the closing time and it's a new challenge now. Ah well, nevermind!

Hanglar Baby Girl

Phew, hopefully just making it in time! Can't believe I haven't posted this card - I've had it made since Sunday!

Anyway, I've used the fabulous sketch from Sketch Saturday, together with my cute Hanglar Baby Girl (coloured with Tea Green, Blush, Baby Pink, Almond, Tan and Ivory Promarkers). The beautiful papers came from Melly (thanks, Hun x). Also used the green Core'dinations card and daisy ribbon (cut into individual daisies) from the June goody bag. A couple of the Sweetie brads and ribbon to complete.

(I was going to use this card for my friend, but decided to make one to co-ordinate with the box I decorated. )

Aoife's Keepsake Box

One of my really good friends had a baby girl on Monday, so in addition to a very cute soft dolly I found for her, I also wanted to make a special keepsake box! I know it's not a traditional baby girl kind of design, but hopefully it SHOULD appeal to my friend. (By the way, Aoife is pronounced Eeefa and is Irish for Eva- had to look it up in my baby names book!)

I've used Clare Curd paper, Core'dinations Aquamarine card, the gorgeous felt butterfly from the Docrafts goody bag, Sizzix vines, a mixture of flowers, charms from The Works, a Sizzix swirl, blue lace from The Works, pink ribbon from stash, Sizzix elephant and rabbit, Nellie Snellon circle, Swiss Dots embossing folder, flowers and pearls from The Works. It's been a real labour of love, with LOADS of handstitching and doodling but it's been sooo much fun to make.

My goodness what a busy week: catching up with Gran, Gran and Susan, plus an activity each day for Lou, plus trying to get the house in order again AND find time to craft (an absolute must)!!

Isn't it funny how, sometimes when you make a card, at the time you're really not convinced about it, then in the morning you think it looks fine?! This is what happened with this one! I used Judy's fab sketch over at The Sugar Bowl, and even managed the optional them of scallops!, with the Papermania Heather Capsule papers, Henbury and Papermania flowers, Sizzix vines, Hobbycraft rafia lace, purple cord and fab turquoise pearls from The Works.

As well as The Sugar Bowl, I can also enter Hanna and Friends - Unused Stamps, as poor Peek-a-Bunny has been neglected for a while! She's been coloured with Promarkers and Stickles.

Water Fun

We had a fantastic holiday in Spain - lots of time together, sunshine and swimming in the pool. But what else can be done on a wet Sunday but craft? Oh what a shame!!

I'd already flagged my favourite photos with the intention of scrapping some of them, so when I saw the Lasting Memories theme of Red, White and Blue, together with Melly's sketch, I knew I HAD to get back into scrapping! I started following Mel's sketch, but then changed it along the way as I chose paper and layered it all. And I remembered about these fab Techno Pop embellies that I won from Craft Garden a little while back and the circles were perfect for bubble effect!

The water paper was from Clare ages ago - thank you and is perfect for the watery theme.

Aaaaah, this is such a sweet image. You know how much I love the originalyDaisy, and she's just as cute in this one - I love her curly hair and the flowers on her top and her heart necklace and the trike looks fun and.....!

THIS Daisy has been coloured with Distress Inks and Promarkers for the tyres. I've used a simple layout, but added detail with the glittered Henbury paper, embossing and inking the paper circle and added dots to the punched flowers - of which there are 6!

Wow, can't believe that Louise has now finished Primary One! This year has gone sooooo quickly and she has DEFINITELY grown up a lot since starting school! Oh, and she sat and passed her first tap and ballet exams today - I'm a really proud mummy just now!!

Anyway, on to the card, which I have made for an order from my bestest friend, Susan. Her order was for this image, with blonde hair and in pinks. Had to add a bit of turquoise just to break up the pink, which hopefullly, will be ok.

Catch a Falling Star has been coloured with Amethyst, Orchid, Tea Green, Leaf Green, Ivory Promarkers and Whispers for the blonde hair. The papers are from the gorgeous Henbury Lane pack, with some Papermania card and lots of Stardust Stickles added.

I love this Sugar Nellie Fingers Crossed image - this time stamped onto watercolour paper and coloured with Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Frayed Burlap, Weathered Wood, Mustard Yellow, Brick Red and Antique Linen for her hair).

Originally, I was going to use the Walt Disney quote Debby had used last week "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them", but I printed it a bit too large, so opted for "With Love" instead.

The papers are Smirk (that I borrowed from Louise with her full permission!!) and the butterfly was from the Goody bag that I HAD to purchase from Dobbies on Saturday! The edges if the papers have been inked with the Frayed Burlap ink.

My First Hanglar

Ok, I'm holding Clare completely responsible for this, but I've bought a set of Hanglar Babies and they are sooo cute! (I know, she didn't exactly make me put the stuff in my basket, but she IS responsible, lol!!) For some reason, I decided I wanted to colour the baby boy first - think it's cos I wanted to use Mint and Chocolate in the colour scheme!

Baby is coloured with Pastel green, Pastel Yellow, Blush, Almond and Baby Pink Promarkers. I have used a mix of Papermania Verde paper, MME Bloom & Grow paper and dotty paper from Mel (thanks x). Hobbycraft rafia lace and Anita's dotty ribbon. The flower embellies are stamped flowers from the kit, coloured with Promarkers and finished with a button and Stardust Stickles.

Think the only challenge I can enter is the Papertake Weekly - Ice Cream Flavours (mint & chocolate).
The Lovely Hanglar Only challenge is Shabby Look - Do you think it would qualify or is it too neat?- the edges have all been inked but that's about it - what d'ya think?

Some Men's / Boy's Cards

I actually quite like making male cards now. Wow, that DID just get typed! I think it's cos over the last few months, I've been asked to make loads, so now it's much easier. Also, these fab images help too.

My favourite one this weekend is definitely the Beer Monster image, which was the Freebie Friday last week over on the Pollycraft Blog. Yep, I've used another digi and liked it - you never know, I might actually be paying for loads of digis soon (I've already got quite a list.....I especially love the turtles at DigiStamp Boutique...!).

Anyway, Beer Monster has been coloured with Blush, Ivory, Pastel Blue and Pastel Beige promarkers. The fab pattered paper came from Clare a while back and I've sewn on the Woodware buttons after threading with some rafia. And the brilliant rafia lace from Hobbycraft has had another outing!

The Sk8tr Boy and Rock Star are both from Funkykits and I love these for boys' cards. I couldn't resist adding a bit of sparkle to each of them, but not too much! The sentiments were computer generated for these ones.

Two Baby Cards

I'm back again with my 2nd post of the day - can you tell that the kids are having telly time and hubby is still at work?! lol

These 2 baby cards were made yesterday to top up my collection. I used the pram and sentiment stamp that was free with Papercraft Inspirations mag this month, layering the pram on 3d pads. For the white background on both cards, I've used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, with the edges Stickled. I've layered the image, paper and ribon and sewn on the buttons before sticking to the card (bit fiddly but a neat finish!). The bows and buttons on the girl card were a bit of a labour of love but I got there eventually! The girly patterned paper is from the Henbury pad that I really love at the moment.

Magnolia Pirate

I think I quite like this image and the Magnolia range is definitely growing on me! Clare gave me this image, which I've coloured with Cool Aqua and China Blue Promarkers. I've also added a bit of turquoise glitter glue as a girly touch.

I really enjoyed making a scrolled up map from some cream paper, Tan promarker and a spilt ring and wire (for attaching). The scroll is Sizzix, which I cut from Clare's die when she was last at mine for a girly chat/craft, and the flowers are a mix from Mel and Clare - thanks girls. The patterned paper is from the Victoria and Albert pad and some Papermill navy paper that I've had forever!

I asked my daughter, Lou, what she thought of my finished card and, after a bit of a pause, she said "Mmmmm, I'm not sure about the flower on a boy's card!". I did point out that Tilda is a girl and is wearing a skirt but she still wasn't convinced - obviously not girly enough for my girly girl!!

I actually downloaded this fab freebie ages ago, I think when Creative Cottage was first set up, and I've finally gotten around to using it! I have no idea why it's taken me so long cos it's gorgeous!! You can buy the whole set of decoupage and papers here.

As I said in my previous post, I seem to be going through a "clean and simple" phase. I always used to favour that style but kind of went away from it when I started doing sketch challenges, but it DOES seem to be a style I return to....

No sketch followed here, just whatever worked! The image was decoupaged, as per the download, with some layered flowers and my sizzix vine added for a garden feel. The pearlised paper has been embossed with my Swiss Dots folder (however did I manage before buying it?!!).
